(Special Avery Edition)

Technical Issue:  I see a when I look for more templates.

CAUSE:  ProWrite does not search for your default template path during installation, but instead will install to the default Microsoft Word template path.  If you have changed you template path, ProWrite will not be able to find its templates and you will see two red symbols.

Note: The WorkGroup Template path is not set on a default install of Microsoft Word.  It is intended to allow organizations to share templates on a shared network location and hence will in most cases show a red symbol.

The MORE TEMPLATES explorer allows users to select which template is to be used to create the letter, fax, memo, envelope, or label. Users can also create additional templates to use pre-printed or plain letterhead, organize letters into file folders or automate routine correspondences by inserting standard text i.e. thank you letters, reports, etc. into a letter template.

ProWrite used the standard User Template path set in Microsoft Word to locate its templates.  To check this path location in Word:

1.       In Word, select TOOLS, OPTION, FILE LOCATIONS and in the list you will see the User Template and Workgroup Template paths. ProWrite looks here for the location of the templates (i.e User Templates and Workgroup Templates) used by Word. This allows organizations with networks to maintain their templates on the local user's machine, on the network or both.

2.       Click on Modify to see the full path.

ProWrite will requires a directory structure at the location specified in Microsoft Word: (Note: the path you specify must end in Templates for either User or Workgroup templates.)

…\templates\

This directory structure is required for ProWrite to function properly. You are, however, able to create any number of sub-directories under each of the primary directories for letter, fax, memo, envelope and label.

RESOLUTION:  To if you have changed your default template path, either change it back to the Microsoft Word default or copy the ProWrite directories to your new template path.
